Embroidery
is quickly becoming one of the most popular methods of decorating
apparel. This is because of its professional appearance and
wide range of applications. Basically any piece of fabric can
be embroidered with the right knowledge (and ability to hoop
it).
Unlike
screenprinting, embroidery's price does not depend on the number
of colors in the design. It does however depend on the number
of stitches, which for all practical purposes means the size
of the design. A full jacket back is much more expensive than
a design on the front left chest of a golf shirt.
DIGITIZING
Simply
put, digitizing is the process of transforming artwork into
stitches. The logo below was fairly easy to digitize with its
few areas of solid color. Photographs or complex graphics can
be more demanding on the digitizer because of the difficulty
simulating this artwork with stitches.

On
average, digitizing costs around $30-$75 for designs less then
6" X 6" (left chest designs on golf shirts for example)
and $100-$250 for larger areas. The number of stitches is mostly
responsible for the pricing of digitizing.
Not
all embroidery jobs require digitizing charges. Names or simple
text do not incur these costs. If this seems confusing, don't
worry. Our staff is always ready to assist you with determining
the costs of digitizing your design.
